Press Release Body = Portland, OR and Washington, D.C. (DATE) - AeA Oregon Council
has been selected to host one of three National Road Show Conferences on
International Environmental Compliance. This all-day event will take place on
Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at Embassy Suites, Washington Square in Tigard, Oregon.
China, Japan, India, Australia and a number of others are developing regulations
similar to the European Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive), and maybe REACH-like
legislation (registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals).
States such as California have introduced legislation with a direct reference to EU
RoHS Directive. These developments will affect the entire high-tech industry
tremendously and does so already today.
This program is designed to enable managers, compliance executives, legal
departments and environmental and facilities professionals to better understand and
comply with these directives. Those who attend will receive critical information
from senior industry executives, trade attorneys, and government officials on how to
ensure their products are in full compliance.
Key featured speakers will include: Steve Andrews, Head of Unit Eco-design &
Product Policy for the UK Department of Trade & Industry (DTI); Jean-Philippe
Brisson, Senior Counsel of Global Environmental Group for Allen & Overy, LLP; Jim
Craven, Director of Legislative Public Affairs for AeA Oregon; Becky Linder, Policy
Advisor for AeA and the U.S. Information Technology Office (USITO), Beijing, China;
and Michaela Muranova, Director of International & Trade Policy for AeA Washington,
DC. Panelists will include representatives from local high tech companies including
